Zollicoffer Park is a Trimble County, Kentucky horse farm that offers visitors a glimpse into the Civil War. The park lies along Zollicoffer Road on the outskirts of Lincoln, Kentucky. It is located at State Hwy 235, Trimble, KY 42544. It marks the site of some of the fiercest fighting of the war. Today, it is home to an equestrian center and other amenities. The battle took place on November 30, 1862 when Brigadier General Edward Donelson led 20,000 Union troops against George Crittenden’s smaller force. On this day, Crittenden’s men halted Donelson’s attack at every turn and forced him to retreat. A Memorial to the Dead of the Battle of Zollicoffer

On November 30, 1862, Union General Edward Donelson led 20,000 men against a force of 5,000 Confederates under General George Crittenden. The Confederates held Zollicoffer Ridge, a spur of mountain that ran along the Franklin and Green rivers. The battle lasted three hours, with the Confederates retreating when they ran out of ammunition. The Union losses were 311 men, while the Confederates lost about 200. Today, the battle site is marked by a small memorial with a dedication plaque and a flagpole. A large boulder marks the location of Zollicoffer Ridge, and a sign indicates the location of the Union attack. Visitors can walk along the bank of the river and look across to the memorial and sign from this vantage point.

A Trimble County Equestrian Center

The Trimble County Equestrian Center features an office, two indoor arenas, two outdoor rings, and a trailer for training or competitions. The center is open year-round for equine activities such as lessons, lessons, or agility. The center also offers trail rides on the surrounding trails, and a camporee, a competition for the equestrian community.

The park is also home to numerous hiking trails that lead to beautiful vistas and the Frankfort Iron Furnace National Historic Site.
